The P.E. program at Sierra Vista, run by Mrs. Miller, is intended to keep students active and educated. Mrs. Miller also coordinates the Wellness program at Sierra Vista. Two representatives from each class in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade and Mrs. Miller make up the Wellness Committee. Students report back to the class after each meeting.
The Wellness Committee at Sierra Vista runs the school's canned food drive, with donations going Vaca Fish, an organization that helps feed people in need from the Vacaville community. Please put your donations in the barrels in the MP room or the vestibule outside the library.
Other activities sponsored by the committee:
- Our walking/jogging program is on again so get out there and start earning your feet!!!
- National Walk to School Day was Oct. 1. We had many students and parents walk to school that day. Did you?
- National Hand Washing Week was in late Sept. Don’t forget to wash with soap and wash often!
- We are starting a recycling program this year for all paper and plastic bottles. Each classroom should have a box to collect all paper and the MP will have a blue tote to collect all plastic bottles.
- Red Ribbon Week was October 20 – 24. Thanks to Mrs. Fisher for helping with our slogan this year – SOCK OUT DRUGS. Friday we wore crazy socks to show our support in socking out drugs!
- Mr. Bones contest was a student body activity for grades 3-6. Each class was given a set of bones which they then put together and dressed up to form a large poster. Entries were hung in the Multi-purpose room. WOW! We had fun decorating and looking at the many posters. Which one did you like best?
- We will soon be starting our mural for the storage container. The theme is LEARNING NOW IS GROWTH FOR OUR FUTURE. Mr. Ceccato will be our leader on this large undertaking!!
Let your representative know of activities you would like to have at Sierra Vista and they will present them to our committee. Contact Mrs. Miller at Sierra Vista school via email at GinnyM@Vacavilleusd.org
