School Policies

All students at Sierra Vista are considered a contributing factor to school success. Our school-wide behavior policy is designed to reward students for their positive behavior.

School Wide Rules

  1. We will always act safely and show appropriate manners.  (NO TOUCHING AT ALL)
  2. No fighting, hitting, play fighting, throwing objects other than balls, no bad language.
  3. We will be on time, responsible, and prepared each day we come to school.
  4. We will show respect for ourselves and others, take pride in the school and use all property and equipment in a safe and polite manner.
  5. We will follow directions the first time they are given.
  6. Students will report all problems to the campus supervisor or a teacher.
  7. We will walk and use a quiet voice in all designated areas.
  8. We will not use chewing gum at school.
  9. We will not bring things from home to school without the permission of our teacher.
     

DRESS CODE:

A neat and clean appearance is most desirable and conducive to learning.  It is important that the home and school mutually agree and enforce acceptable standards of dress for elementary age children rather than leaving this decision to the children or to their peer group.  Students’ attire must adhere to the following:

  1. Clothes are to be neat, clean and in good repair.  Makeup is not allowed.
  2. Spandex, half shirts, mesh or see-through sheer tops, bare back tops,   crop tops, spaghetti straps and cut-offs are not appropriate.
  3. Pants waistbands must remain above the hips (no sagging/no under-garments are to be visible).
  4. Shoes are to be worn at all times.  Heelys are not allowed.  Thongs, strapless shoes and platform shoes are considered unsafe and are not to be worn.
  5. Hats can be worn OUTDOORS only with VISOR FACING FORWARD.
  6. T-shirts which bear profanity or advertise drugs, alcohol, tobacco, gangs or violence or any messages or pictures that could be considered inappropriate in a school setting are not allowed.
  7. Inappropriate buttons, pins or jewelry will be confiscated.
  8. Students will be provided clothes, wear a jacket over the shirt, and be given a tie to keep pants up.
  9. Short shorts and skirts are inappropriate and are not allowed
  10. If attire is questionable, staff will make final determination of appropriateness.
