Our Mission

Our mission is to prepare students to be respectful leaders by providing service to their community.  Students will be immersed in a rigorous curriculum in order to be college and career ready in a global society.

Coffee with the Principal

These casual meetings are an opportunity for parents, guardians and community members to join in a conversation with Mrs. Bozzini, principal of Sierra Vista.  Topics include academics, school goals, focus, special events, and PTC information.  Parents have the opportunity to ask questions and to bring other topics to the conversation.  The meetings take place in the school cafeteria from 8:35 AM -9:15 AM.

Spirit Wear Available for Purchase

Sierra Vista spirit wear is available for purchase.  Navy t shirt is $10.00.  Jersey shirt is $15.00.  PE uniforms for 7th grade is $20 or $10 each.  Cash only.  Purchase in the office or during orientation.

Thank Goodness It's Fun Club (TGIF)



The Thank Goodness It’s Fun Club provides a unique venue where children 5 -12 have the opportunity to learn and develop important life skills through fun-filled before and after school.

The safe, supportive, and structured program includes a snack, time set aside to get a start on homework, cool and messy arts and crafts, great group games, family fun nights, and socialization all under the supervision of our well-trained staff.

This community based program strives to partner with local organizations like Junior Achievement, Girls Scouts, and Soroptomists to offer well rounded programming that will create healthy youth and healthy communities.

What is the enrollment capacity at Sierra Vista?

Answer:  Sierra Vista will have a maximum of 2 classes per Kindergarten through 6th grade.  Up to 4 classes per 7th and 8th grade.  Total students= 620


Will there be 2 school calendars?

Answer: Yes, there will be an elementary calendar (K-6) and middle school calendar (7 & 8).


How are the middle school classes set up?

Answer:  There will be 6 periods plus home room.  Students will have an English, math, science, history, PE and elective class daily.


Will there be music?

Answer:  Yes, there will be music for 5th & 6th grades provided once a week.  There will be band and orchestra offered daily during 7th & 8th grade elective period.


What makes Sierra Vista unique?

Answer:  We are the only K-8 school in Vacaville Unified School District.  It is a small school.  We are the only school to offer AVID to elementary and middle school students.


What is AVID?

Answer: AVID is a school-wide college readiness program provided by certified AVID teachers.  For more detailed information, please visit AVID.org.


Will there be sports?

Answer:   Yes, we will have a cross country, volleyball, flag football, basketball, soccer and track team.


Will there be before and after school care?

Answer: Yes, there will be a TGIF program offered by the City of Vacaville.  Visit our homepage for more information. 

Back to School Night will be on Wed. 8/31 for K-6 and on Tues. 8/30 for 7th gr. Both nights start at 5:30 PM

School picture day will be Tues. Sept. 27th.  Order form packets will be sent home a few weeks prior with students.


Back to School Night for K-6 will be on Wed. Aug. 31.  The first session starts at 5 30 PM and the second session starts at 6 PM.  Please choose one session to attend.  Back to School Night for 7th grade will be on Tues. Aug. 30.  It starts at 5 30 PM and follows your child s schedule starting with 1st period.


Minimum day for all students.  All kindergarten students are released at 11 50 AM.  All 1st - 7th grade students released at 12 45 PM.

AVID School-Wide Program

We are very excited to announce the implementation of the AVID program at Sierra Vista K-8.  AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. It is a program designed to prepare K- 12th grade students for four-year college eligibility. AVID Center’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. AVID has a proven track record in bringing out the best in students and in closing the achievement gap.  


AVID Elementary classrooms encourage:

• Organizational tool accountability and responsibility

• Use of agenda planner to foster a “plan-ahead” mentality

• SMART goal-setting skills

• Time management skills

• Note-taking strategies (STAR)

• Inquiry method

• Collaborative learning

• Effective reading strategies for comprehension
